FAQ

WHERE ARE SKIN NEEDLING TREATMENTS PERFORMED?
At Crystal Cosmetic Clinic, our skin needling treatments cover the full face, neck, and décolletage areas.
WHAT IS SKIN NEEDLING?
Skin Needling, also known as micro-needling or collagen induction therapy, is a cutting-edge skin rejuvenation procedure. Despite its compact size, the skin needling tool yields significant results. Utilizing a pen-like device, it creates numerous tiny punctures in the skin. This minimally invasive technique has been proven to reduce wrinkles and fine lines, address acne scars, enhance skin texture, shrink pores, and deliver overall skin rejuvenation. Furthermore, it is suitable for all skin types.
HOW DOES SKIN NEEDLING FUNCTION?
Skin Needling involves the swift penetration of the skin's upper layers, creating minuscule micro-puncture injuries. This process triggers the skin's innate healing mechanism, promoting the production of two vital proteins essential for maintaining supple, smooth, and youthful skin: collagen and elastin.
IS MICRO NEEDLING BENEFICIAL FOR YOUR SKIN?
Micro Needling is a natural, mechanical process that operates without the use of chemicals. It aids in diminishing the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines, enhancing skin tone, and refining pores. Micro needling can also be beneficial for acne scarring and reducing redness while improving overall skin texture and quality. Moreover, it enhances the skin's capacity to absorb skincare products, leading to consistently healthier skin.
HOW MANY SKIN NEEDLING TREATMENTS ARE NECESSARY?
The required number of treatments will be determined based on your specific requirements, which will be thoroughly discussed during a Skin Consultation. Typically, we recommend a treatment regimen consisting of 3 to 6 sessions at 6 to 8-week intervals to continuously promote collagen and elastin production. Subsequently, maintenance treatments can be scheduled at 3, 6, or 12-month intervals.
WHAT IS THE RECOVERY PERIOD AFTER SKIN NEEDLING?
The recovery period following skin needling is quite brief. Immediately following your treatment, you may notice that your skin appears red and feels tight, similar to a mild sunburn. It could also feel warm and tender for several hours. These reactions are normal and should diminish within the next 24 to 72 hours. To enhance your comfort, you can apply a cool, clean face cloth. The initial redness will gradually diminish and may be replaced by dry, tight skin, which might start to shed over the course of the next 7 days. This shedding is a natural part of the healing process, revealing the new, radiant skin underneath. Potential side effects may include slight swelling, temporary discomfort, minor redness, potential bruising, dryness, and light flaking. However, these effects typically resolve within a few hours or up to a week, depending on individual variations.
IS SKIN NEEDLING SUITABLE FOR ACNE?
Skin Needling isn't recommended for individuals with active breakouts, but it becomes an ideal option once your skin has cleared. This is because the increased production of collagen and elastin can help improve the appearance of post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation and acne scarring.
IS SKIN NEEDLING A SAFE PROCEDURE?
Skin Needling is generally safe for all skin types and typically involves minimal downtime after treatment. However, it's not advisable if you are using specific acne medications or if you have conditions such as psoriasis, eczema, open wounds, active cystic acne, keloid scarring, or if you are pregnant.
WHAT IS THE DISCOMFORT LEVEL DURING TREATMENT?
Skin Needling treatments may induce some discomfort. While numbing cream is typically used for various other skin needling procedures, the vibrating action of Skin Needling disrupts the pain receptors in the skin, eliminating the need for numbing cream. Unlike dermal rollers, Skin Needling doesn't roll or drag across the skin, resulting in clean, direct microscopic punctures that cause minimal to no pain.
HOW MANY SKIN NEEDLING SESSIONS ARE RECOMMENDED?
The number of required micro needling treatments can vary due to individual differences in skin and specific concerns. We typically advise undergoing Skin Needling treatments every 4 to 6 weeks until your desired results are achieved. For scar reduction, it's usually recommended to undergo an average of 3 to 6 treatments.
WHAT IS THE IMMEDIATE POST-TREATMENT APPEARANCE OF THE SKIN?
Immediately following your treatment, you may notice flushed skin, slight redness, and potentially mild swelling. Some individuals might experience light flaking as well. Typically, the majority of redness and swelling should diminish within 24 hours, with the average healing period ranging from 2 to 5 days.
HOW LONG DO SKIN NEEDLING RESULTS LAST?
Skin Needling typically begins to show its effects as your skin heals within 4 to 7 days after the initial treatment. After 4 to 6 weeks, your skin is prepared for the next session, during which the positive results will start accumulating. The stimulation of collagen from a skin needling treatment can persist for up to two years following the procedure.
